The Euro 2012 Mascots Go On A Field Trip

Continuing along with today’s international tournament theme of What exactly does this achieve?, we have the happy-go-lucky mascot duo from Euro 2012, just unveiled last week. The as of yet unnamed brothers with permasmiles from Polkraine went on a field trip to Donetsk. Now Donetsk has a history as a mining town, evidenced in the football world by Shakhtar Donetsk’s shield and nickname (the Miners, obviously), so it’s pretty much the complete opposite of anywhere you’d choose to voluntarily vacation.

And so they went there on a dreary November day to visit some coal mines, in the process creating one of the most depressing pitch campaigns in recent history.

Who’s up for spilling their savings on a trip to Donetsk?

Qatar Slays The World Cup 2022 Field With World Record Shirt

FBL-QATAR-JERSEY-GUINNESS-RECORD

Still doing everything they can to convince the world that Qatar is a feasible location for the 2022 World Cup, the Qatar Petrochemical Company created the world’s largest shirt – Guinness approved – for the bid. Because big @#$%ing shirts will quash the notion that Qatar is too hot and too small to host a World Cup all by its lonesome in the summer months.

Which is the type of logic we expect from the US bid.

What this achieves outside of absolutely nothing, no one knows, but the shirt was obviously and hilariously made in China.
