South American U-20 Final Group: Matchday 1 Posted: 01 Feb 2011 09:47 PM PST The six remaining teams in the South American U-20 Championship played their first of five matchdays on Monday, and we saw one surprise, one blowout, and yes – some more Neymar. See above for a quick preview, below for full highlights. Uruguay 1-0 Colombia Uruguay got their first win on the strength of Adrian Luna’s first-half free kick goal, and held Colombia to no real chances after that for a lean but solid win. Highlights: Argentina 0-1 Ecuador We haven’t heard a lot from Ecuador recently on the world football stage, but they got some attention Monday night by doing what Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela and Peru couldn’t do in the first stage – beat Argentina. Montano got the lone goal in the 46th minute, and Sergio Araujo badly missed a penalty for Argentina to solidify the win. Highlights: Chile 1-5 Brazil 0-1, 1-0. Enough of that and back to the Neymar show. The Santos wunderkind added two to his impressive tournament total, now seven, and this one was never really in sight for Chile.
